In a move that will delight users of the latest high-performance laptops, Private Internet Access (PIA), one of the leading VPN providers, has launched its ARM-native VPN app for Snapdragon X Elite-powered machines.

This development is particularly significant as many popular VPNs have yet to optimize their apps for ARM architecture.

    The Challenge of ARM Compatibility

Snapdragon X Elite laptops are known for their exceptional performance and battery life, but their ARM infrastructure has limited the availability of compatible apps until now.

Users previously had a narrow selection of VPN options that work natively on these machines, including Surfshark, Windscribe, and now PIA.

Many leading VPN providers, such as NordVPN and ExpressVPN, are actively developing ARM-compatible versions of their apps, but they have yet to finalize these solutions.

Without a native ARM app, Windows resorts to translating x86_64 architecture applications, a method that can lead to performance issues, especially with specialized software like VPNs that require deep integration into the operating system.

    PIA’s New ARM-Native App

The new Private Internet Access app is now available on the Microsoft Store for CoPilot+ machines.

Himmat Bains, Head of Product at PIA, expressed excitement about bringing the VPN’s functionality to ARM-based devices, stating, “We have been working hard to bring all of PIA’s functionality across to this new hardware, and are thrilled that our users can again enjoy the full power of the PIA platform.”

While the app is currently in beta, users should be aware that some features may not function perfectly right away.

Miguel Galindo, Senior Software Engineer at PIA, noted that “more work will be needed to streamline PIA functionality as new ARM applications are released.”

However, PIA is a trusted name in the VPN industry, known for its robust security features, including a verified zero-logs policy and an effective kill switch to prevent data leaks.

    Conclusion

With the launch of its ARM-native VPN app, Private Internet Access is paving the way for Snapdragon X Elite users to enjoy a reliable and secure VPN experience.

As more VPN providers work to optimize their applications for ARM architecture, the landscape of available options will continue to grow, allowing users to fully leverage the capabilities of their advanced laptops.

For now, PIA stands out as a top choice for those looking to protect their online privacy on the latest technology.
